Pony Express HQ
Pony Express HQ vs SlickText
SlickText sells monthly tiers priced by message credits with unlimited contacts. We sell prepaid credits with no monthly fee. Which wins depends on how often you send.
SlickText is a capable platform with an unusually fair plan structure for this category. It does one thing we would call out as genuinely good practice: it does not gate features behind higher tiers.
The structural difference
SlickText sells a monthly subscription priced by message credits rather than contacts, with every feature available on every tier and additional sending numbers requiring a higher plan.
We sell prepaid credits and charge for nothing else. No monthly fee, no contract, one dedicated number included, unlimited team logins.
Where SlickText is genuinely stronger
Unlimited contacts on every tier, no feature gating between plans, and dedicated onboarding and account management at the larger tiers. If you want a person to walk you through setup, or a named contact once you are sending at volume, that is a real service and we do not offer it.
They also publish their pricing clearly, which is less common in this market than it should be.
Where we are stronger
Only the model, and only in one direction: a monthly plan charges you in the months you do not send. If your sending clusters around a season, a campaign or an emergency, that is money spent on silence.
Because we have no tiers at all, there is also nothing to outgrow. The rate improves as you buy larger credit bundles, but no capability appears or disappears based on what you pay.
Which to choose
Choose SlickText if you send regularly, want onboarding help, or value having a support relationship as you scale.
Choose us if your sending is occasional or unpredictable, or if you would rather not commit to a monthly figure before you know what your volume looks like.
Run your own numbers with the cost calculator, and check SlickText’s current pricing directly. We describe their model rather than quoting numbers we cannot keep current.
